google map for added interest

Hey Bloggers, I was having difficulty figuring out what to do with a google map in a posting about cakes so I just decided to make it a separate post for simplicity's sake.

Enjoy.

Week 6: Edible Art

Hello there and welcome to another Art what art? post, this week I will change things up a bit by posting some pictures I took rather than drew of some art that if I do say so myself are a really sweet medium. (pun intended) If you haven't already guessed the medium I refer to is the medium known as cake decorating. The first two pictures are of cakes I decorated for a cake decorating class I took at Washburn Tech probably 2 or 3 years ago.

This one is a 2-layer round cake, That if my memory serves me correctly I made myself as with maybe the exception of the very first class session, we had to provide our own cakes for decorating. the only real thing I can tell you is the frosting I used on all these cakes is butter-cream or a slight variation of that.

This one was the final cake we had to do for the class, and the caption if you can't quite make it out says: " I tawt I taw a Puddy Tat!!" and I do not intend to make anyone feel stupid but in the slight chance anyone doesn't know who this is it is the famous or infamous (depending on who you ask) Tweety Bird from the Looney Tunes gang.

That's it for this week bloggers,
or in the immortal words of Porky Pig: "Thebudeeh thebudeeh That's all Folks!!!"

Week 5: Art is in the Eye of the Beholder

Hello Bloggers,
I have two drawings I wish to share with you this week both of them are original works that I did a number of years ago (don't ask for an exact number because I do not remember myself-more than 1 or 2, there).
The first drawing is a piece I did using colored pencils upon essentially printer paper, not the best quality materials but for the person just starting out or someone who doesn't draw all the time such as myself it makes a reasonable medium to use.
This drawing is of our Scottish terrier MacGregor dreaming of what I think could be considered his two most favorite subjects simultaneously: Bunny Rabbits and Tennis Balls. If I recall correctly I tried to be methodical about this and do a couple drafts before the finished product. so here it is
When Scotties Dream

The second drawing is a charcoal sketch I did in one of those sketchbook things, this drawing was done during a Vacation Bible School I was helping out with at the time, the theme was a trip around the world with each day being a different country (not literally of course, although that would have been pretty neat). Anyways, this drawing is my rendition of a Parisian Balcony looking out over the City of Lights (or Love depending on who you ask) here it is:

Until next time bloggers, Keep Artsy.

Ben's Introduction

Hello,

Welcome To the Art what art? Blog

My name is Ben and I am not an artist in the traditional sense of the word (just to warn you) in fact I probably would not even call myself an artist in any sense of the word as I really only have what few classes I took in primary education and 2 classes I have taken in college. In this blog, I will be posting drawings, doodles, and sketches I have done with some commentary on whatever processes and mediums I used, as well as where and when I made the drawings (presuming I can remember).
I have always enjoyed doodling, but unlike those who tend for art majors, I fell out of the habit and now do it infrequently.
I hope you enjoy what you see, and do not hesitate to leave comments on these posts. I only request that if you don't like a piece, you tell me why and keep it constructive (no flames or  Trolls)
As a final note, I already have some of my work posted on the website DeviantArt which you can see at the following link:
